Unexposed Kashmir

— a photo essay about family life in the territorially conflicted state of Kashmir in northern India.

Background

In the summer of 2010 I travelled to Srinigar, Kashmir to partake in a
photojournalism workshop with acclaimed British photographer, Marcus Bleasdale. I spent almost two weeks in the area, based between a houseboat on the shores of Dal Lake, and a family home in the city. Kashmir has been the subject of a territorial conflict between India and Pakistan for more than 80 years, over which time thousands of people have been killed in the turmoil.
